Data Quality Counts

ATHN is pleased to offer the ATHN Data Quality Counts Awards – a program designed to enhance data management capacity at HTCs and enrich the ATHNdataset. The ATHN Data Quality Counts 9.1 application form is available for download here. The submission deadline is June 9, 2017.

ATHN Data Quality Counts is made possible through support from The Hemophilia Alliance, The Alliance Pharmacy and Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center.

Award recipient selection will be based on overall strength of the application, demonstration of the capacity to fulfill ATHN’s priorities and, if a previous awardee, history of progress in data management.

Successful applicants will receive an initial $2,500 for base funding upon receipt of their signed agreement and $50.00 per patient after the core data elements are entered into the ATHNdataset. Again this year, payment will be increased to $100 per authorized patient with rare coagulation disorders that is enrolled in the ATHNdataset and core data elements are updated. (We encourage you to enroll these patients in the Community Counts Registry at the same time.) The funding cycle will cover the 12-month period beginning July 1, 2017.

Complete and accurate core data in the ATHNdataset continues to be the priority for this funding period. Data Quality Counts awardees are required to:

  • Secure patient authorizations for the ATHNdataset. As in the previous cycles, all patients with bleeding and thrombotic disorders are eligible. In this cycle, special funding has been dedicated to enrollment of patients with rare coagulation disorders such as Afibrinogenemia; Alpha-2 Antiplasmin Deficiency; Dysfibrinogenemia; Factor I, II, V, VII, X, XI, XIII, V & VIII combined;  Hypofibrinogenemia; PAI-1 Deficiency; Protein C; Protein S; and Antithrombin III Deficiency.
  • Enter complete core data elements for those patients who have been authorized (previously or during this funding period), including but not limited to those data elements that are used to calculate national, regional and HTC level quality metrics: primary bleeding disorder diagnosis, diagnosis baseline lab value, inhibitor diagnosis status, inhibitor titers, HIV and hepatitis diagnosis status, HCV viral load result, primary medication regimen for prophylaxis and episodic care, ITI regimen if applicable, insurance category type, insurance plans where possible, comprehensive care visit date, height and weight. Please refer to the list of ATHNdataset core data elements for details.
  • Participate in ATHN Data Matters, ATHN’s data quality assurance program.
