Improving skills through technical assistance.
As a result of the HTC Technical Needs Assessment, the NHPCC Staff Development Work Group identified a need for a standardized approach to staff orientation as the first priority in addressing staff development technical assistance.
The 8 regional core centers have a long history of orienting new staff to comprehensive care services and the federally funded national network. However, the content, implementation and monitoring of this training is not consistent across the networks. To ensure that all staff members have access to the same skill development opportunities, the Staff Development Work Group, comprised of regional leadership, created a training module and guidelines for monitoring the progress of new staff in acquiring the skills and knowledge to be an effective team member.
