Assessing improvement through national quality indicators.
The multidisciplinary NHPCC Quality Improvement Work Group developed key national quality indicators, or metrics, to assess variation in practice patterns across HTCs and to shed light on opportunities for quality improvement. In an effort to make the best care even better, these indicators were recommended by the HTC community. Each key area of practice is backed by evidence that links the practices to positive patient outcomes.
National quality indicators were reported at the national, regional and HTC level for the first time at the 2014 ATHN Data Summit, and are updated annually. Over time, additional measures are added to reflect the changing practice guidelines and issues of importance to the community.
